Police are warning the public about a scam in which individuals posing as Cyprus Electricity Authority (EAC) technicians visit homes and take money from residents for fake repair work.
According to Limassol CID, the suspects approach apartments and houses, speak Greek, and claim they are there to fix a power outage.
Investigators say the scammers temporarily cut power from the external supply panel to make it appear that a fault exists.
They then restore the electricity, pretend to have repaired a problem and demand payment.
Police urge the public to be cautious and to report any similar incidents immediately to their local station, Limassol CID at 25805057, or the Citizens’ Line at 1460.
