A convoy of vehicles displaying Palestinian flags rolled through Turkish controlled north Nicosia on Tuesday in protest of Israeli military actions in Gaza.

The demonstration, organized by the ‘Cyprus Palestine Initiative,’ began outside the Hala Sultan Mosque and concluded at the Ledra Palace checkpoint near the United Nations compound.

Spokesperson Mücahit Avcı said the convoy aimed to denounce what he described as “two years of genocide” in Gaza.

He added that the group would submit a petition to the UN mission in Cyprus calling for an end to what they view as decades of occupation and injustice in Palestine.

Board member Mahmut Keleş said thousands of civilians, including women and children, had been killed in Gaza over the past two years, and urged the international community to take action.

Participants also condemned recent Israeli attacks on the Sumud Flotilla, a pro-Palestinian aid initiative, and pledged continued solidarity with the people of Gaza.

Following the rally, a delegation delivered the petition to UN representatives in Nicosia.
