FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The number of people working in the public sector in Cyprus increased by 1.1 percent (599 people) in February 2025 compared to February 2024, reaching a total of 55,296, according to data from the Statistics Office cited by Politis.
Between February 2024 and February 2025, employment in the public service rose by 0.2 percent, and in the education sector by 3.8 percent, while the security forces saw a 0.8 percent decrease in employment.
Overall, public sector employment saw a 0.1 percent increase in the January-February 2025 period compared to the same period in 2024.
In February 2025, the public sector comprised 11,991 permanent civil servants, 5,162 temporary employees, 1,381 seasonal employees, and 5,663 daily wage employees.
