A Swedish man living in Luxembourg is facing trial over allegations that he planned to poison attendees at the 2021 Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam using cyanide and chlorine.
According to Dutch and Swedish media reports, police discovered explosives at the suspect’s residence. He was a minor at the time of the alleged plot and now faces up to 12 years in prison.
The trial began earlier this July. The 2021 edition of Eurovision, ultimately won by Italy’s Måneskin, was held under strict pandemic restrictions with a limited audience.
