‘Transatlantic relations are over,’ says Michael Roth, head of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the German Bundestag, after Trump’s harsh stance against Ukraine.
‘This is the worst possible situation,’ Roth told German TV channel ZDF on Thursday.
The statements come after US President Donald Trump posted a text on Truth Social on Wednesday afternoon in which he called Volodymyr Zelensky a “dictator” and wrote that he could “end up without a country.”
‘This is pure Kremlin and Putin rhetoric,’ says Roth, who belongs to the social democratic SPD.
Europe is now “alone at home,” emphasized the German politician, who believes that the statements indicate that the American president has sided with the Russians, and that it will have “painful consequences for all of us.”
