FAMAGUSTA — Two people were killed and six others injured, including two infants, in a head-on collision Friday afternoon on the road connecting Trikomo to Tymbou in northern Cyprus.
The crash occurred around 2:45 p.m. near the village of Knodara when a vehicle driven by a 31-year-old woman veered into oncoming traffic under circumstances still under investigation. Her car collided with another vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man.
The impact killed the 23-year-old driver and his 22-year-old passenger instantly. The 31-year-old woman and her two infant passengers, both around 18 months old, were hospitalized in northern Nicosia.
Three additional passengers from the second vehicle were also injured. One woman was taken to the hospital in Famagusta, while another woman and a man were transferred to northern Nicosia.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
