Two held over suspected arson in Anogyra wildfire investigation

A man and a woman, aged 48 and 51, were remanded for five days in connection with a wildfire that broke out in the Anogyra area of Limassol district on March 8, police said.

The pair were arrested under court warrants issued after testimony emerged during the investigation.

The fire started shortly after 1:30 p.m. and burned roughly 600 square meters of dry grass and wild vegetation before being extinguished by a community fire‑engine crew.

Police and Fire Service investigators determined the blaze had been set deliberately, identifying three separate ignition points.

Limassol CID is continuing the investigation.
