FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – The United Arab Emirates has announced plans to restore passenger and cargo flights with Syria, with coordination underway to finalize the necessary procedures.
No official date has been set for the resumption of services.
Flights were suspended in early January after the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s administration in December 2024.
The decision follows a meeting between UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Syrian leader Ahmed Al-Shara, where discussions focused on Syria’s stability and reconstruction efforts.
The UAE reaffirmed its support for Syria’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, pledging assistance during the transitional period.
