The United Kingdom respects the sovereign right of Eastern Mediterranean countries to develop their natural resources, British Minister for Europe Stephen Doughty has said.
Responding on behalf of Prime Minister Keir Starmer to a letter from the Council of British Cypriots regarding Turkey and the Cyprus issue, Doughty said London recognizes the strategic importance of the region for energy security and supports the development of renewable sources.
“The UK supports internationally recognized borders in the region and encourages the resolution of disputes in accordance with international law,” Doughty said.
