FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Maria Ángela Holguín, the personal envoy of UN Secretary-General António Guterres for the Cyprus issue, is expected to visit the island in early September, according to diplomatic sources.
No official confirmation of the visit has been issued yet.
Holguín is anticipated to hold meetings with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar.
Discussions will reportedly focus on confidence-building measures, including the reopening of crossing points and other low-level political matters.
Later in September, a trilateral meeting between Guterres, Christodoulides, and Tatar is scheduled to take place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
