Two planes carrying Venezuelan migrants landed in Caracas on Friday after the group was freed from a notorious prison in El Salvador, where they had been detained for months.
The migrants had been transferred there by U.S. authorities earlier this year, reportedly accused of gang affiliations without evidence.
The release was part of a prisoner exchange between Venezuela and the United States. In return, Venezuela released ten Americans along with an unspecified number of political detainees.
President Nicolás Maduro publicly thanked former U.S. President Donald Trump for “correcting an irregular situation.”
