A low‑pressure system moving north from Egypt is set to affect Cyprus from Wednesday night, bringing increased dust, strengthening winds and periods of rain, the Meteorological Service said.
Skies will remain mostly cloudy today, with isolated showers expected from midday onward. Winds will shift from light to moderate early in the day to moderate and locally strong later, reaching 4 to 5 Beaufort and briefly 6 Beaufort along the coast. Seas will become rough on the northern, eastern and southern shores. Temperatures will rise to around 22°C inland and on the coasts, and 16°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight will stay mostly cloudy with local showers and isolated thunderstorms, possibly with hail. Winds will remain mainly northeast to southeast at 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening near the coast. Temperatures will drop to 11°C inland, 14°C on the coasts and 6°C in the mountains.
From Thursday through Saturday, intermittent rain and isolated storms are expected, with hail possible and snow or sleet on the highest Troodos peaks. Winds will remain strong at times, especially along the coast, and rainfall may be locally heavy or prolonged on Friday and Saturday, particularly in western and southern areas.
Temperatures will gradually fall through Saturday, dipping slightly below seasonal averages.
