The Cyprus Ports Authority has presented its 2026 budget to parliament, highlighting increased spending on port‑infrastructure projects and digital upgrades.

The authority’s board chairman told lawmakers that Cyprus’ ports remain “strategic national assets” tied to trade, energy, shipping and tourism, and said the organization has posted strong financial results in recent years.

Most of the 2026 development budget centers on four areas: expansion of Vasilikos port; upgrades to Latchi port to support coastal tourism and create what the authority says could become Cyprus’ first “green port”; improvements to existing port infrastructure; and modernization of internal operations through digitization, cybersecurity and energy‑transition projects.

The authority has also prepared a proposal for the management and development of Larnaca port, aiming to maximize its long‑term potential.

The chairman said the budget was drafted with “responsible management” in mind and that planned investments are intended to strengthen port competitiveness and deliver economic benefits.
