A yellow weather warning for rain and thunderstorms remains in effect until 6 a.m. Friday, the Meteorological Department said.
Periods of heavy rain and storms are expected across the island, with hail possible in some areas and winds strengthening during thunderstorms.
Total rainfall, particularly in the western half of the island, may locally exceed 55 millimetres in 24 hours, while rainfall intensity could reach 35 millimetres per hour, forecasters said.
