The director‑general of Cyprus’ Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry, Kyriakos Iordanou, has taken part in the “Egypt’s Energy Horizon 2040” conference in Cairo, an event organised by the EU Delegation to Egypt in cooperation with the Egyptian government.

Iordanou joined a round‑table discussion titled “Gas in the Spotlight of the Energy Transition,” where participants highlighted the strong and strategic Cyprus–Egypt relationship in the natural‑gas sector. According to the ministry, speakers underlined Egypt’s developed energy infrastructure, describing it as a reliable regional partner, and noted that Cypriot gas is expected to contribute to the energy security of both countries as well as to supply the European market.

On the sidelines of the conference, Iordanou met with East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) Secretary‑General Osama Mobarez, in the presence of Cyprus’ ambassador to Cairo, Poly Ioannou. The meeting reaffirmed Cyprus’ support for the organisation and its active role in efforts to strengthen and expand the forum, which the ministry said enhances Cyprus’ position in regional energy planning.
