Police are investigating a suspected bird‑poaching case after officers found a 35‑year‑old man attempting to remove wild birds from trapping nets, authorities said.
Members of the Anti‑Poaching Squad of the MMAD unit were patrolling the Tochni area when they spotted the man approaching a field where two mist‑net setups had been installed.
A device emitting recorded bird calls was also operating at the site.
Officers stopped the man for questioning and released four wild birds — believed to be thrushes — that had been caught in the nets.
The 35‑year‑old was taken to the Zygi Police Station, which is handling the investigation.
