Finance Minister Makis Keravnos has welcomed Standard & Poor’s decision to reaffirm Cyprus’ “A‑” investment‑grade rating and maintain a positive outlook, calling it an independent endorsement of the government’s fiscal policy amid global instability.

In a written statement, Keravnos said the rating action comes at a time of economic and geopolitical uncertainty driven by ongoing wars, which pose potential risks for Cyprus.

He said S&P’s assessment reflects confidence in the government’s approach, which he described as rooted in fiscal discipline, debt reduction and balanced growth policies that support both businesses and households.

Keravnos added that the government’s strategy has helped create a favorable environment for investment and reinforced Cyprus’ position as “a pillar of security and stability.”

He also said the country looks forward to welcoming tourists and visitors to what he called a safe European destination.
