EU interior ministers voted on the inclusion on Thursday.
“Abolishing border controls at the borders of and between these member states has been a key priority of the Hungarian Presidency, and today we have made it a reality,” says Hungarian Interior Minister Sandor Pinter.
Both countries became partially part of Schengen in March after an agreement with Austria, which initially opposed their joining.
