Christodoulides and Mitsotakis Discuss Cyprus Issue in Athens

FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – President Nikos Christodoulides has met with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

The meeting, held at the Maximos Mansion, focused on the ongoing efforts to resolve the Cyprus problem and strengthen cooperation between Greece and Cyprus.

In his remarks prior to the meeting, commended Christodoulides for his dedication to “keeping the process alive to find a fair and permanent solution to the Cyprus problem.”

He reaffirmed Greece’s unwavering support for these efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity and collaboration in addressing this long-standing issue.

Christodoulides, in his statement, highlighted the significance of the upcoming conference in Geneva.

He reiterated the goal of resuming negotiations from where they were left off in 2017, building on previous achievements.

He stressed that the objective remains to find a solution within the agreed framework, adhering to the principles and values of the European Union.

The Geneva talks on the Cyprus issue, scheduled for March 17 and 18, are set to bring together key stakeholders in an effort to resolve the island’s enduring division. Discussions will include representatives from the Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot communities, alongside the guarantor powers of Greece, Turkey, and the United Kingdom, under the guidance of the United Nations.
