Cyprus migration flows fell by 86% between 2022 and 2025

The Aliens and Immigration Service aims to tackle undeclared work holistically and, by extension, reduce migration flows, deputy operations chief Petros Zeniou said.

Speaking on CyBC, he said migration flows fell by 86% between 2022 and 2025, with a further 46% drop so far in 2026 compared with the same period last year.

During an operation in Larnaca on Saturday, officers arrested 34 people for illegal employment. Two of them were also detained for residing unlawfully in the Republic.

Police determined the 34 foreign nationals were employed by eight individuals, who were issued out‑of‑court notices for undeclared employment. Zeniou stressed that enforcement targets employers, not the workers, and that administrative fines and criminal charges will follow.
