NICOSIA — Cyprus is taking steps to support healthy ageing, Health Minister Michael Damianou said Saturday.
Speaking at a conference on frailty prevention in primary care, Damianou said collaboration among health workers, early intervention, and healthy habits are key to helping older adults stay independent.
He cited global ageing trends, noting that the number of people over 60 hit 1 billion in 2019, is expected to reach 1.4 billion by 2030, and more than 2.1 billion by 2050.
“Getting older doesn’t mean giving up the things you enjoy,” he said.
