Police carried out intensified overnight patrols across Cyprus as part of ongoing targeted operations aimed at preventing serious crime and strengthening public safety, authorities said Monday.
During the coordinated checks, officers arrested four people on various offenses, including possession of a knife and illegal stay in the Republic.
Police stopped 524 vehicles and checked 675 occupants. They also inspected 27 premises as part of efforts to curb delinquency in urban areas.
Traffic enforcement formed a major part of the operation, with 309 violations reported. Of those, 134 involved speeding and 12 involved driving under the influence of alcohol. Officers conducted 107 breath tests and impounded 32 vehicles.
Police said the heightened patrols and focused checks will continue daily, with an expanded presence and rapid operational response aimed at reinforcing public confidence and maintaining order.
