A meeting between the President Christodoulides and Turkish Cypriot leader Ersin Tatar will take place later on Monday to discuss the opening of new crossing points.
Cyprus state radio, however, reports that current estimates indicate that the two sides are not close to an agreement.
Media reports suggest the Greek Cypriot side will raise the issue of opening the Athienou-Pyroiou and Kokkinon checkpoints, while the Turkish Cypriot side is not prepared to discuss anything other than Mia Milia.
The talks will be held at the residence of the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General in Cyprus, Colin Stewart.
