FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is set to visit Hungary from April 2 to 6, following an invitation from Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
During the visit, Netanyahu will engage in discussions with Orban, focusing on strengthening bilateral ties in areas such as defense, innovation, energy, and trade.
Regional security and developments in the Middle East are also expected to be key topics.
This visit marks a significant moment, as Hungary becomes the first European country to host Netanyahu since the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant against him and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant last November.
The charges include alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza.
Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto has openly criticized the ICC’s decision, describing it as politically motivated and undermining the institution’s credibility.
He reaffirmed Hungary’s support for Netanyahu, emphasizing the country’s strong backing of Israel’s right to self-defense within European Union discussions.
