Periods of mostly clear weather in Cyprus on Thursday will alternate with increasing cloud, bringing isolated showers and light snow at higher elevations, the Meteorological Service said.
Winds will blow mainly from the northwest to north, starting light to moderate at 3 to 4 Beaufort, strengthening later to moderate and locally strong at 4 to 5 Beaufort, and briefly very strong in wind‑exposed areas at 5 to 6 Beaufort. Seas will be moderate in the south and east, and rough in the west and north.
Temperatures will reach around 16°C inland, 18°C in the southeast and east, 17°C on the remaining coasts and 4°C in the highest mountains, where patches of frost will persist.
Tonight, cloud cover will remain variable, with the chance of isolated showers mainly in northern areas and snow in the higher mountains. Light snow or sleet may also fall at lower mountain elevations. Winds will stay northwesterly to northerly at 3 to 4 Beaufort, occasionally reaching 4 to 5. Seas will be slight to moderate in the south and east, and moderate to rough in the west and north.
Overnight temperatures will drop to around 5°C inland, 6°C on the coasts and –3°C in the highest mountains, where frost is expected.
Local cloud and isolated showers are possible on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with snow in the higher mountains and, through Saturday, a chance of light snow or sleet at lower elevations. Frost may form in sheltered low‑lying areas on Friday and Saturday nights.
Temperatures will fall slightly on Friday to below seasonal averages, before edging up again through Sunday.
