Cyprus’ Ministry of Transport has submitted a €550 million budget for 2026, covering infrastructure, equipment, and development projects totaling more than €1.6 billion, officials said.

Transport Minister Alexis Vafeades told lawmakers that the ministry expects to manage projects exceeding €1.6 billion next year, with a focus on infrastructure and modernization efforts.

The proposed budget includes increased spending on administrative operations, civil aviation, electromechanical services, and postal operations. However, allocations for road transport and public works have been reduced — a move that sparked debate during a presentation to the parliamentary Finance Committee.

Vafeades did not elaborate on the reasons for the cuts but emphasized the ministry’s commitment to delivering key development projects in 2026.
