Cyprus recorded zero annual inflation last month, the only European Union country to do so, according to figures released by Eurostat.
The EU’s overall inflation rate rose to 2.6% in September, while the eurozone’s rate reached 2.2%.
Cyprus’ monthly inflation trend was slightly negative, with consumer prices falling by 0.4%. A year earlier, the country’s inflation rate stood at 1.6%.
Eurostat said the main contributors to inflation in the euro area were services, food, alcohol, tobacco, and non-energy industrial goods. Energy prices had a negative impact, slightly reducing the overall rate.
