Eight people have been sentenced to death for the murder of opposition politician Mohamed Brahmi, who was shot and killed outside his home in Tunis on July 25, 2013.
Brahmi’s wife and children witnessed the murder, which was carried out by two individuals on a motorcycle.
The defendants were charged with attempting to change the state system and inciting armed conflict.
Three of them received additional death sentences for “conscious participation in premeditated murder.”
A ninth person, who is currently on the run, was sentenced to five years in prison.
