Vehicle registrations in Cyprus rise 15% in first two months of 2026

Vehicle registrations in Cyprus rose 15.1% in the first two months of 2026, reaching 9,020 compared with 7,834 in the same period last year.

In February alone, registrations climbed 24.3% to 4,670, up from 3,757 a year earlier. Passenger saloon cars increased 23.8% to 3,600.

For January–February, passenger‑car registrations rose 13.7% to 6,917. Of these, 34.7% were new vehicles and 65.3% used. Rental cars declined from 555 to 502.

The fuel mix continued to shift: petrol cars fell to 36.2% of saloon registrations (from 41.6% a year earlier), diesel to 8.9% (from 9.2%), and electric vehicles to 5.2% (from 5.3%). Hybrid cars increased sharply, rising from 43.9% to 49.6%.

Bus registrations more than doubled to 44, up from 20. Goods‑vehicle registrations rose 26.2% to 1,155, including strong increases in rental vans (+88%), heavy trucks (+67.4%), road tractors (+42.9%) and light trucks (+18.9%).

Moped registrations under 50cc fell to 15 from 49, while motorcycles over 50cc rose 14.7% to 758.
