Cyprus’ Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices rose 1.5% in March compared with a year earlier, the Statistical Service has said. The index increased 1.1% from February.
Food and non‑alcoholic beverages recorded the largest annual increase at 6.5%, followed by recreation, sport and culture at 5.7%. The biggest declines were in clothing and footwear, down 5.5%, and housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, down 4%.
Compared with February, the sharpest monthly changes were in clothing and footwear, up 4%, and food and non‑alcoholic beverages, up 2.7%.
By economic category, food‑alcohol‑tobacco rose 5.3% year‑on‑year, while energy fell 3.7%. Energy posted the largest monthly increase at 4.3%.
The March eurozone figure is based on Eurostat’s flash estimate.
