The government’s measures introduced last year have helped keep prices lower in Cyprus than in most other EU member states, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.
It was commenting on Eurostat figures showing Cyprus recorded the second‑lowest inflation rate in the bloc, alongside the Czech Republic and Sweden, and well below the averages for both the eurozone and the European Union.
The ministry said that despite a period of geopolitical uncertainty and rising energy costs, Cyprus continues to post only modest price increases, significantly lower than those in the eurozone.
Over the past year, Cyprus has generally maintained one of the lowest inflation rates in Europe. Annual inflation hovered between 1% and 3%, depending on the month, easing sharply from the higher levels seen in 2022–23. Food and energy prices remained the main pressures, but government subsidies and targeted support measures helped keep overall inflation contained.
