Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides held a telephone conversation with Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to exchange views and assess developments ahead of Mitsotakis’ upcoming meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara, the government said Monday.
In a written statement, Government Spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis said the discussion focused on the latest developments in the Cyprus issue and ongoing efforts to restart substantive negotiations within the agreed United Nations framework.
He said both sides reaffirmed their commitment to international law, the principles and values of the European Union, EU law, and relevant UN Security Council resolutions.
Letymbiotis added that Cyprus and Greece maintain a common approach on the need to resume talks from the point at which they were interrupted, with the aim of achieving a viable and functional settlement that fully respects international law and the EU acquis.
