Drug Seizures Surge in Cyprus, Police Report Shows

Authorities in  Cyprus have reported a sharp increase in drug seizures, particularly cannabis, cocaine, and methamphetamine, according to data from the Republic’s Narcotics Division cited by Politis newspaper.

Between January 1 and September 30, 2025, police investigated 881 drug-related cases involving 886 individuals — 515 Greek Cypriots and 371 foreign nationals. This marks a slight rise from the same period in 2024, when 831 cases were recorded and 886 individuals were investigated.

The quantities of drugs seized in 2025 were significantly higher:

  • Cannabis (marijuana): 759.28 kg
  • Cannabis resin: 1.49 kg
  • Cannabis plants: 53
  • Cocaine: 47.06 kg
  • Methamphetamine: 6.06 kg
  • THC packages: 2,476 (totaling 444 grams)
  • Doping substances: 702 tablets, 270 capsules, 33 syringes, 58 ampoules, and 12 bottles

In comparison, seizures during the same period in 2024 included:

  • 382.03 kg of cannabis
  • 1.48 kg of cannabis resin
  • 14 cannabis plants
  • 11 kg of cocaine
  • 382.64 grams of methamphetamine
  • 120 tablets and 21 tubes of doping substances

Officials described the volume of confiscated drugs as “impressive,” reflecting both increased trafficking activity and intensified enforcement efforts.
