FAMAGUSTA GAZETTE – Filipinos are enduring hazardous heat indexes as temperatures reach up to 43 degrees Celsius in some areas, particularly on Luzon Island, the state weather bureau PAGASA reports.
At least 10 areas fall under the “danger” category, which ranges from 42 to 51 degrees Celsius.
The heat index, combining air temperature and humidity, represents how the temperature feels to the human body.
PAGASA has warned that regions under “danger” levels risk heat cramps and exhaustion.
Residents have been advised to stay hydrated, minimize exposure to direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours, and avoid strenuous activities to prevent heat-related illnesses.
